Zdeněk is not only an excellent technical employee, but also an enthusiastic runner. He has completed 79 marathons and he and his wife have run through a number of American and European metropolises. He co-founded the Česká spořitelna Running Club at the bank and with the help of his friends he has managed to get more than 300 colleagues running. He can say without any exaggeration that he has changed more than one life (for the better, of course), including his own.
1,427 of our colleagues are active in 18 employee clubs. Last year, for example, they raced over snowy plains, improved their diving skills, motor-boated along the Baťa Canal, acquainted themselves with the beauty of the Slovak capital city and also took their children to an author’s book reading.
Moreover, our colleagues in the clubs are not afraid to help others through sport. For example, the Česká spořitelna Running Club took up the collection of points in the EPP "Help through movement” mobile application and helped significantly in the acquisition of 100,000 CZK, which the ČEZ Foundation will provide to the Bellis Young and Cancer Foundation for therapeutic stays for young women suffering from breast carcinomas.
The Česká spořitelna SKI TEAM holds the Summit Race every year, during which participants have to conquer the 20 storeys of our head office's highest building. They donated the proceeds from this year’s event to our colleague Andrea, who is in a wheelchair, as a contribution towards a handbike.
The ČS Bike Team also combines sport with good deeds. Twenty members of the club made use of a charity day to help children with cancer from the seats of their bikes by joining the Biking for Children cycle tour. They also inspired other colleagues in the bank with their example.
